About LinkedIn
| LinkedIn (www.LinkedIn.com) is a free business social networking site that allows users who register to create a professional profile visible to others. Through the site, individuals can then maintain a list of known business contacts, known as Connections. LinkedIn offers an effective way by which people can develop an extensive list of contacts, as your network consists of your own connections, your connections’ connections (2nd degree connections), as well as your 2nd degree’s connections (called your 3rd degree connections). From this network, individuals can learn of and search for jobs, business opportunities, and people. LinkedIn also serves as an effective medium by which both employers and job seekers can review listed professional information about one another. LinkedIn follows strict privacy guidelines wherein all connections made are mutually confirmed and individuals only appear in the LinkedIn network with their explicit consent. |
LinkedIn GUIDELINES
These are the guidelines for social media at APICS Florida West Coast Chapter. If you're a Florida West Coast Chapter LinkedIn Group member creating or contributing to blogs, wikis, social networks, virtual worlds, or any other kind of social media on the Florida West Coast Chapter LinkedIn Group or Web Site, these guidelines are for you. We expect all who participate in social media on behalf of the Florida West Coast Chapter to understand and to follow these guidelines. Failure to do so could put your future participation at risk. These guidelines will continually evolve as new technologies and social networking tools emerge so please check back once in awhile to make sure you're up to date.
Guiding Principles
Emerging platforms for online collaboration are fundamentally changing the way we communicate, offering new ways to engage with students, parents, and the community at large. It's a new model for interaction and social computing can help you to build stronger, more successful relationships. And it's a way for you to take part in conversations related to the work we are doing at Florida West Coast Chapter and the things we care about.
If you participate in social media, please follow these guiding principles:
- Stick to your area of expertise and provide unique, individual perspectives on what's going on atFlorida West Coast Chapter and in the community.
- Post meaningful, respectful comments-in other words, no spam and no remarks that are off-topic or offensive.
- Always pause and think before posting. That said, reply to comments in a timely manner, when a response is appropriate.
- Respect proprietary information and content, and confidentiality.
- When disagreeing with others' opinions, keep it appropriate and polite.
Moderation
Moderation is the act of reviewing and approving content before it's published. The Florida West Coast Chapter does not endorse or take responsibility for content posted by third parties. It is preferred that all content be posted by registered users of a site in accordance with accepted terms and conditions and a code of conduct. We do not moderate content we publish.
If the content is positive or negative and in context to the conversation, then we approve the content, regardless of whether it's favorable or unfavorable to Florida West Coast Chapter. However if the content is ugly, offensive, denigrating and completely out of context, then we reject the content.
